Home Remedies with Saunf (Fennel Seeds)

Saunf, also known as fennel seeds, is a powerful spice widely used in Ayurveda for its digestive, medicinal, and healing properties. Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, fennel seeds are an excellent natural remedy for digestion, menstrual problems, respiratory issues, skin care, diabetes, and more. Below are effective Saunf home remedies you can try for common health concerns.

  • Mix 1 teaspoon of Saunf (fennel seeds) with 1 teaspoon of cardamom seeds (Elaichi), grind into a fine powder, and take ¼ teaspoon with water after meals. This helps improve digestion and reduces bloating.

  • Prepare a natural oil blend using 1 drop of fennel oil, 1 drop of geranium oil, 2 drops of clary sage oil, and 1 tablespoon of whole-fat milk. Massage gently on the lower abdomen to relieve menstrual pain and cramps.

  • Massage fennel seed oil on the affected areas to reduce pain, stiffness, and inflammation caused by arthritis and rheumatism.

  • Mix 2-3 drops of fennel oil in 1 tablespoon of honey. Consume 1 teaspoon of this mixture daily to soothe a sore throat and cough.

  • Gargle with warm fennel seed water once daily for a few days to naturally remove bad breath and improve oral hygiene.

  • Mix ½ teaspoon of powdered fennel seeds in a cup of carrot juice and drink daily. This helps strengthen the optic nerves and improve weak eyesight.

  • Boil ½ teaspoon of Saunf in 1 cup of water until reduced to half. Cool, strain, and use as natural fennel eye drops to soothe irritation and redness.

  • Soak a handful of fennel seeds in water overnight. Strain in the morning, add a pinch of black salt and a little sugar, and drink. This acts as a natural cooling drink to prevent heat stroke.

  • Boil 6 teaspoons of fennel seeds and an equal amount of rose petals in 1½ cups of water. Strain and drink twice daily to improve hemoglobin levels and fight anemia.

  • Grind 5 teaspoons of fennel seeds with 3 teaspoons of ginger. Mix with honey, add to tea, and drink 3 times a day to treat diarrhea naturally.
