Effective Home Remedies Using Ajwain (Carom Seeds)

Ajwain, also known as carom seeds, is a powerful spice used in Ayurveda for various home remedies. It offers relief from digestive issues, respiratory problems, menstrual pain, and more. Here are some of the most effective ajwain-based remedies you can try at home.

  • Boil curry leaves, dry grapes, sugar, and ajwain seeds in a cup of water. Drink this decoction daily to help reduce the premature greying of hair.

  • Wrap ajwain seeds in a cotton cloth, heat them in a pan, and apply them warm to the chest and neck. This remedy may help ease asthma symptoms.

  • Boil 3 grams of ajwain seeds and garlic in 40 grams of sesame oil until the oil turns red. Strain and use the oil as ear drops to cool the body naturally.

  • Heat ½ teaspoon of ajwain seeds in 30 ml of milk until aromatic. Strain and use the warm milk as ear drops to relieve ear pain.

  • Mix ajwain seeds with common salt and consume the infusion to relieve throat congestion and hoarseness due to cold.

  • Crush a tablespoon of ajwain seeds, tie them in a soft cloth, and inhale for relief from nasal congestion and common cold.

  • Roast ajwain seeds in castor oil, grind them, and mix with rock salt. Take this mixture with warm water to reduce menstrual cramps.

  • Roast ajwain seeds in cow ghee, then add wheat / green gram lentils flour and jaggery. This preparation is effective for treating hiccups and a productive cough.
