What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that leads to itching and scaly patches forming on different parts of the body.

Causes of Psoriasis

  • Stress.

  • Excessive alcohol consumption.

  • Hereditary.

  • Previous skin infections.

  • Obesity.

  • Vitamin deficiencies.

  • Certain medications.

  • Skin trauma, including burns or chemical exposure.


  • Symptoms of Psoriasis

  • Persistent itching.

  • Skin redness and irritation.

  • Burning sensations.

  • Thick red patches or flaky white scales.

  • Painful lesions.

  • Cracked skin that may bleed and become sore.

  • Rare cases of joint inflammation.

  • Home Remedies for Psoriasis

  • Stay hydrated by drinking medicated water throughout the day.

  • Avoid alcohol and smoking to reduce flare-ups.

  • Keep your belongings clean, as contaminated fabrics or cosmetics can trigger secondary infections.

  • Maintain a balanced diet, avoiding excess sour, salty, spicy, and fried foods.

  • Manage weight to support overall health and metabolism.

  • For burning sensations, apply sandalwood powder or use it as a decoction for bathing.

  • Drink water infused with ginger powder to enhance metabolism and reduce inflammation.

  • Apply a paste of raw turmeric, honey, and cow ghee on patches to ease itching and scaling.

  • Use mustard oil for scaling areas based on skin type.

  • Limit dairy, junk food, and processed foods, as they can worsen symptoms.

  • Apply sandalwood oil mixed with carrier oil for added relief.

  • Bathe in neem decoction to help with itching and redness.

  • Make a paste using rose petals, sandalwood powder, and sesame oil, then apply to affected areas.

  • In cases of extreme itching, use a baking soda solution and apply it gently with cotton.

  • Regular castor oil application is beneficial for dry, cracked skin.
