What is Hypertension?
Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is a condition in which the force of blood against the walls of the arteries is consistently too high. The arteries are responsible for carrying blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
Blood pressure is considered elevated when the systolic reading exceeds 140 mmHg and the diastolic reading exceeds 90 mmHg. However, these values can vary depending on factors such as age and specific physiological conditions, like gestational hypertension during pregnancy.
