Home Remedies for the Flu
Drink a cup of ginger (adrak) tea.
Eat a small amount of horseradish (mooli) or fresh ginger root after meals.
Chew a small piece of garlic (lahasun) and swallow it with water.
Inhale steam from boiling water infused with 5 to 10 drops of thyme (ajwain ke phool) oil, covering your head with a towel.
Make a paste of three tablespoons of mustard seeds (sarson) and water; apply it to the chest for 15 minutes, then rinse off with water.
Drink a cup of warm milk mixed with one teaspoon of turmeric (haldi) three times a day.
Mix equal parts onion juice and honey (shahad) and take 3 to 4 teaspoons daily.
Consume grape (angoor) juice regularly.
Boil one tablespoon of fenugreek (saunf) seeds in half a litre of water until reduced to one-third; add one teaspoon of fresh ginger juice and honey, and drink the mixture.
Boil one gram of basil (tulsi) leaves with some ginger in half a litre of water until it reduces by half, drink it as tea.
Roast ajwain seeds in cow ghee, add water and jaggery and consume the mixture twice a day.
Useful Tips for Managing the Flu
Practice steam inhalation using plain or medicated water (boil ajwain powder and a pinch of camphor in water).
Add ginger powder to your drinking water throughout the day.
Create a cloth pouch filled with roasted ajwain and camphor, and inhale the aroma frequently.
For the first 2-3 days, consume a light, warm, and fresh diet, such as lentil soup, rice gruel, or green gram soup.
