What is Conjunctivitis?

Conjunctivitis, commonly known as "pink eye", is the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva the thin, transparent membrane that lines the eyelids and covers the white part of the eye. It leads to redness, irritation, and swelling. Conjunctivitis is a very common condition.

Causes of Conjunctivitis

  • It is caused by bacteria or viruses.

  • Allergies are triggered by allergens like pollen or dust mites.

  • Contact with substances such as chlorinated water, shampoo, or even a loose eyelash can irritate the conjunctiva.
